I see your point, but prior to the issue, my bandwidth more than exceeded the necessary speeds for Voip. I get about 19 down and 1000 up. I have used VOIP for a few years now and never had any issue with cable dropping calls. Hell in fact, I used to handle phone calls while my wife was playing 2142, and many other online games and never noticed any drop in performance with regards to VOIP.
However, I do agree that I should not rely on a crappy service. Cable is not really that different than DSL these day, at least when you are in a good grid. The problem with this is Adelphia recently let all of there lines and hubs go to hell in my area because they went broke. Comcast is trying to upgrade everything, but not really doing a great job at it.
I am very close to getting DSL, but I am going to call comcast 1 last time and discuss getting a business line. From what I understand a business line would be a possibility for me as I do quite a bit of business from home.
