Banned from WC3 server
Hey, I was just playing in the Counterstrike WC3 server and I got banned. I suppose for team stacking though I'm not sure what I could have done about it. The scenario....
Steam UserID STEAM_0:1:6333767
Today, Thursday October 19th, around 5:45 PM central time we were in a round of Office, the server was fairly full (teams even at 14 on 14, with a few spectators) and I think the CTs were up something like 11 rounds to 4. I was leading the CTs with 19 kills I think though my kill-death ratio wasn't all that great, and there were other CTs pretty close behind me in terms of total kills I believe. I say all this questionably since I'm moving next week and was packing up boxes in the room while I was dead every round (one reason my K-D ratio was lousy was I was playing fast and recklessly to be productive during my dead time). I didn't even notice the CTs were up by more than 4 wins until right before i think it was -=Possum=- asked why I hadn't changed teams. I replied that I didn't notice the CTs were up and since the teams were even (14-14) I couldn't change teams anyway. He replied with something along the lines of "well this will teach you to watch" and before I could say another word he kicked and banned me.
I've had an hour to cool down but i'm still rather ticked about this. The VAST majority of admins I've met on this server seem cool, run a tight ship and keep the play smooth, the game fun, the trouble makers out, and the teams balanced (typically by warning people to move or switching them using admin controls though), but I felt this was unprofessional (or maybe un-adminlike is a better word). I know it's your server and an argument with an admin is not one I am going to win, but I wanted to put in my two cents. Thanks for keeping a well-designed, large capacity WC3 mod server online.

ok, come on now, I know the rules, but do you think a 24 hour ban is a reasonable punishment for having the highest K-D ratio on my team when one team has a 4+ win advantage?
NO warning was given
If i'm remembering right the rules state that "one of the top" players must switch, did you ban the highest 2 or 3 CT players or just me? My K-D ratio wasn't dominating or anything, so it's not like I was solely responsible for the CTs winning more rounds, you could even make an argument that while my ratio was something like 19-14, the guy in second or third place who was 17-9 was doing more than I was, so why on Earth am I getting banned for 24 hours?
As I said in my first post, most reasonable admins I run into will actively balance teams by switching players as they see fit, not kicking and banning people with no warning for merely leading their team in kills when their team is 6 or 7 rounds up. Possum, do you dispute any of these facts...
-I was not flat out carrying the CTs, I just had the most kills, maybe the 2nd or 3rd, maybe even 4th best K-D ratio on the CTs (I specifically remember that Tulkis had a far better ratio on the Ts)
-The teams were 14 on 14, so I couldn't have changed teams even if I had noticed the CTs where 4+ wins ahead earlier
-NO warning was given, you asked why I hadn't switched, I said (paraphrasing here) I hadn't noticed and the teams are even (meaning I can't change sides on my own without a T going spectator first or an admin moving me), and you banned me before I could say another word
Now does any of the other admins think this is the punishment equivalent of a year in prison for Jay Walking? I mean if Ash from housewares and the others that I see nightly think that I am in the wrong here, I'll shut up and show up tomorrow at 6 with a smile on my face, but this seems like abuse of admin powers to me.

well weve givin up with warnings for regulars. i would have just told u to switch myself but i wasnt there. and yes a 24hr ban is standard for stacking no matter who u are. now granted there needs to be a statement from the admin on WHY u are gettin banned before he does it but it doesnt always happen. thats why we have the forums

Just pointing out once again that the teams were 14-14, how was I supposed to join the Ts without an admin to swap players or a T first joining spectators? My only possible course of action at that point would have been to join spectators and hope that a different undeserving CT got banned or a T jumped to CT so I could join T and finally play again. I want to point out that I don't disagree with the self-balancing policy, having people stack teams on a map and win 95 % of the rounds kills the fun in a hurry, but a 24 hour ban with no warning seems exorbitant, especially when I couldn't change teams on my own anyways.
I also wanted to point out that it's not like the Ts were being routed every round, yes the CTs were winning more often, but usually it came down to one or two players left alive (usually not me) with the CTs just getting lucky and winning, not like the Ts were being slaughtered with only a few CTs dying each round where an admin really needed to step in to balance things, the round wins were deceptive cause the teams were actually pretty evenly matched (otherwise I assume that software balancer would have started swapping players to balance the total kills). Incidentally, you all have created a great WC3 mod, is it really that complicated to institute a different team balancer where the top players are shuffled often? (this is an honest, non-rhetorical question, I don't know enough about programming outside of Matlab to say how difficult this would be, but having a great team balancer routine would save alot of headaches from handing out bans like candy)
