EoD for BF:V Feedback Thread
After downloading/patching BF:V to 1.2, and downloading/installing EoD:BFV 0.1, I had a chance to play an hour or so on ninjaserve. So here are some n00bish, unqualified comments: :p
- the Vietnamese automatic radio messages you hear (when someone caps or neutralizes a flag) are long and annoying. How can I turn that off?
- from a distance, it's hard to distinguish enemy soldiers. I know it's supposed to be that way, but I felt it was a bit easier in the BF1942 version?
- I love the footstep sounds in BFV. Much more pronounced.
- I like the varied intro music tracks. Let's have more. How do I upload my own mp3's?
- the circular progress bar (when you try to cap a flag) seems to be dumbing down. I preferred the BF1942 version, where you had no idea if the flag would ever be capped because an opponent was hiding somewhere.
- Lang Son Night had weird lighting.
- it's hard to see when you're using the AA gun in Charlie. Perhaps it's more realistic, but it makes it harder to shoot.
- the user interface in BFV is a bit more confusing. I'm not sure what weapons I will get when I change player classes.
- don't get me started on the counter-intuitive Punk Buster check box.
- and finally, the biggest question of all: The graphics are better, but the maps are the same. The BF1942 version was already fantastic. So what was the point of investing all that time in converting to BFV? How many BFV owners will download a Vietnam mod?

IMPHO.. I think the mod is great.. but I just cant seem to get over the graphics.. I just don't like BFV's graphics at all.. I have a very hard time seeing and recognizing other players especially when i am moving. I have tried over and over to get adjusted and adjusting my settings to it but I can't. I really don't see me spending an enormous amount of time on BFV, I guess 42 eod is the mod for me..

*agrees with Tank*
I have Bf:V, and will play it if that is what my group wants to do that night, but I am a Bf:EOD fan and will remain that. I dont care for DC, FH, or POE either. There is nothing like playing Hastings with a bunch of guys (and gal) on TS, and kicking the ever-loving shit out of the other team...hehe.

EOD for BFV
Well as you might remember, my engleeshe is very bad, but i try to tell what i think about EOD for BFV.
EOD began to loose its spirit with the 0.3 release.
Battlefield Vietnam is an ugly game to me. There are no mayor changes in EOD/BFV.
The Soldier Models in EOD/BF42 are realistic, those of BFV and EOD/BFV are annoying.
To me the New eod is just another BFV Mappack.
I am really sad about the way EOD changed since 0.21 and very dissapointed about EOD 0.1 for BFV.
Lets keep one minute silence to remember the great Mod that has been murdered by its developers.
(i respect the work the EOD guys put in the Mod, its just my personal point of view, no diss)
Grettings from Germany......now if you'll excuse me, i must be on my way to play DC Final, the Mercedes Benz of the BF42 Mods-unfortunally with the worst community in the world.

What does BFV:EOD give you?
1. ability to shoot from passenger spots. Something that b42:eod players wished for.
2. heat-seeking missiles. Again, asked for my b42:eod players.
3. possibility of tunnels in bfv 1.2 engine.
4. densely populated jungle and brushes.
Sure it has some look 'n feel of BFV, but it's the .1 release. It's too early to compare this .1 with the .31 b42:eod. Let's wait for this version to mature to .3, then the comparison will be more accurate. Give the devs some time to create the skins, objects, etc that will give it a distinct EOD feeling. IMHO, etc...

I only paid $20 for my copy of BFV. Try eBay.

Ummm, sorry but the possibilaty of tunnels does not depend on the BFV engine. The way tunnels are possible in BFV is the same way they are possible in bf42.
Not more not less.
(thy can only be build as objects with 3dsMAx or any other 3d programm, then put in the ground. Entrance and exit have to be covered by some plate like objects or any other stuff that hides the wholes that will be left between the tunnel and the polygones of the terrain)

First off, it feels more like the real Vietnam. In .3 or .21 etc. it only kinda feels like Vietnam due to engine restraints.

Personally I think BF:V EOD is a big leap in the correct direction. I still don't know what is so awful about the BF:V engine? Both engines have plenty of problems. What do you think the EOD devs are doing wrong? I mean what don't you like about BF:V EOD? Those skins are not permanent. BF:V EOD is a funny Mappack. New weapons, more balance, more realism, etc. Not to mention that BF:V EOD doesn't play like BF:V at all. When I read things like that^^ I want to know exactly what you think is wrong because if you don't tell us, we can't change it.

Then why has no one done it yet? Accoding to something I read in the FH forums (posted by a dev), to make a tunnel on Iwa Jima they would need to turn it Mt. Sarabachi into a large static model. Your the first to mention sticking a model unterground.
