I also like the idea of the gel that is spread on the water like an oil slick to cut the hurricanes size down. No water to feed from it looses strength.
Or get about 10000000 box fans and aim it at the great beast.

Same here.. But, put that grill outside and move that generator farther away from the airconditioner unit.

Funny you say that. I think someone here in Vero Beach Actually had the generator too close to the ac unit and dies from that exact thing.
We are all fine, i took some damage, but mostly trees. Tons of trees.....My landlord told me to find someone and cut them a check and she willpay me back. I got a chain saw cut all the trees down and got quotes up to 3000.00 and charged her 2000.00 so i do not have to pay rent for a few months.

i have no complaints with Bellsouth's DSL service(other than some questionable routing at times). they are a MUCH better alternative than the Adelphia cable internet available here. i've had both services in this same location, so i would know. also, BS had my phone service restored in 5 days after the hurricane. that's nothing to bitch about considering people are still without power.

My phone and the city water were the only things that worked after the storm.
I have no complaints at all with bellsouth......As a matter of fact I thanked them for being the only service that I had that was working the entire time.

the proper follow-up question to this is, should we really use it if it works? hmmm... i know for sure the insurance companies will say a resounding YES!

Let's home the gel doesn't cause some other problem like dead fish washing up on shore, poison water tables, or even worse... a giant tsunami wave :p

I'm not a big fan of Adelphia either, but I have to admit... they totally exceeded my expectations for restoring cable and Internet after the storm. My power came back at 11:30pm one night, I had cable service the next day, and steady Internet service the following.

very cool video.
Edit: I have an Ivan damage report. The remnants of Ivan knocked out my power for 2 hours last night. Someone tell this thing to just die already.
And we still have Jeanne lurking out there. I think it got lost on it's way to Florida. It's still hunting us lol. Anyone seen the forecast maps on this one lately? It's going in circles.
