I can't say for certain Rick but my brother did some contracting work over there and they did provide housing. Even the housing isn't safe though. He showed me pics of the building next to his that was hit by a mortar. Loads 'o damage.

KBR will pay for your flight over there, you would most likely fly into Bagdad and get transport to your work site. They will fly you back when you terminate the job. From what I here, you will get 2 weeks off every four months. KBR will only pay a portion of the ticket for vacations.

Yes, "the cans" (housing) are no where near mortor proof. They have barriers surrounding them. But they have AC/heat, AFN cable, and Internet (at least in the GI rooms) Depending on which site you are at, there may be more or less mortars dropping in.

I think its worth the $86,000-$120,000 a year. (up to $86,000 is tax free, pay during vacation is not)
