One of the best war movies ive seen is Stalingrad. I also like old movies like Guns of the Navorone, The longest day with Sean Connery, John Wayne, and a whole bunch of old actors.
But of course also Saving private Ryan, Platon, Full metall jacket etc.

And by the way, of the few war movies that I watched (namely Apocalypse Now, part of Saving Private Ryan, Blackhawk Down and Windtalkers), the best would be Apocalypse Now.

omg windtalkers was so unrealistic like the naplam artillery.. it would shoot dirt and sharpnel everywhere not flames!! also the part where the guys are getting hit by the sniper. they yell sniper sniper!!! and all the guys with the rifles run. but niclous cage fires two shots with the thompson while running and just happends to hit him from like 300 yards out. for on the thompson is horribly inaccurate and the thompson has no ragne either most the time it was only accurate to 50 yards!!! . no to mention the movie was just a joke not even close to believeable. also at the end of the movie when nicolus is limmping away from the battle he gets shot and then turns around and randomily fires into the bushes and kills 5 japanese!!!! . I actually thing that he shoots like 4 times and hits 5 japanese. anyway i made my point it was a hoorible movie in my opinion.. I love band of brothers though.

From a mostly non-movie watcher:

Liked:
Band of Brothers and Lost Battalion.

So-So
We were soldiers:
How often in Vietnam did we launch a bayonet attack with M16s? At least the Huey Gunship made it believable.
Battle of the Buldge

Disliked:
Platoon
Midway
Those AA guns look horrible. Never mix real WWII footage with newly taken footage.
The Big Red One
Simply unrealistic...
