My Dad died when i was a kid, My grandfathers are all gone. My financee was killed a few years ago. Im the only member of my family within a 4 hour flight.
I dont give a **** about an 83 dollar tree. At this time of year, who cares. You going to take the money with you? This is the time of the year familys get together and do things. Horse, regardless of the shit in your truck, how often does your family get together, and do things for other, needy people? For kids that likely wouldnt HAVE a christmas if it werent for that doggie-doo in your truck. When you pay that visa bill, remember the smiles. Remember the hugs. You might not see them again - And if that happens, you'd trade all the visa debt in the world for just one more xmas with your dad.
Frankly, shame on you. This season is the one time of the year that people try to make people happy, to get them in the spirit. This is the time of year for hugs and laughter and smiles. And you ****s whine about visa bills and dog shit. shame on you.
./d
PS. Snake, come January 10th, the 23 year old should be tossed out on his ass

uh, for the record i haven't seen my dad since i was seven. i found out he was dead when i was twenty. i never knew my grandparents on his side. my other grandparents have been gone for years. i don't know why, but it seems you think the rest of us have the perfect family unit.
i'll whine about whatever the hell i want to whine about. this time of the year puts a lot of stress on some people. many people, including myself this year, are under more stress than normal. on top of that, having some of these crappy(literally) things happen while i'm in the act of doing something good for people was like a slap in the face. so what, i wanted to vent a little. big deal.
i'm soooo damn sorry that i made a post which allowed me(and others) to vent a little. i'll make sure my future posts are more positively orientated to the perfect world according to Packetloss. not.

Jeez, I can't stand seeing admins fight between eachother.
*secretly grabs a bag of popcorn and prepares himself "I believe I won't go out tonight after all" :p*
Anyway, Christmas, yeah, big marketing scam, especially towards the younger children that really believe that Santa exists and he will bring them all the gifts they want, no matter how expensive, so they ask their parents for a 20.000$ barbie doll or something like that, and maybe there's a family that will do anything to satisfy their children and they will buy it.
Then again, every Christmas during wich we stay in Italy instead of going up to Germany means going to the local bar with my father and sister, having a nice thick hot chocolate, talking for a few (dozen) minutes, and then going home to discover all the nice presents underneath the Christmas tree that our mother packed underneath while we were gone. w00t.
I can't think of a single Christmas during wich someone was angry or sad, for whatever reason. Every one of them was great.
It may be something different from my point of view, since I don't pay the bills for the presents, but from the look on the face of my father, he isn't sad about it or anything, actually he seems just as happy as all of us. And trust me, my sister and I NEVER get only a few cheap gifts
Hopefully this Christmas I'll get my first bass guitar+amp, and I'm pretty sure (90%) I'm getting a (used) scooter as well. Other than that, I'll almost definitly get a few of the 15+ cd's I put in my wishlist, and of course, SOCKS.
Merry Christmas to all of you!

well i like seeing my family, except i can't see all of them(some live on the other side of the country and through the states)
this year kinda sucked, i wanted to add to my collection of software, but well computer took a shazbot and i need to get basically a whole new system, so that's basically my list, computer parts, sadly since i'm not likely to get any of it.
but hopefully my parents and grandparents(the ones still living) and aunts and unkles and such might be able to group together and get me something(or atleast fund it, *mutters please god not a dell*)

Packet...I'm sorry for your losses. Horse the same is for you, and everybody else that have lost someone close.
I lost my grandfather a few years ago - in the christmas eve. He always took a nap after the dinner, the christmas eve was no diffrent. He took a nap, but he never woke up again. This was at my grandmothers apartment. I was there, infact my whole family was there. That christmas wasn't fun, as a matter of fact. There haven't been a xmas, since than, that I don't think about him. I will never forget how it felt when I say his "sleeping" body in the couch....Well well. I do agree with what Packet are saying, I also agree with some of the stuff HP saying. As a matter of fact I kind of agree what most of you guys saying. There are ups and downs during this holliday. Try to make the best out of it.........
What I try to say to you all is:
Merry X-mas to you all!!!!
One this I do agree with 100% is that - Snake that 23 year old is something you have to do something about. Hell if I were like that when I was a little younger my father would kick my ass so much that I wouldn't been able to walk afterwards

Buying gifts is sort of fun as long as you do it online and don't have to deal with the people in stores. I pretty lucky in that my wife does most of the Christmas shopping, and I only need to worry about picking out gifts for her.
The sad part of Christmas is how as you grow older you began to see it more as what it is... A commercial holiday.
Don't get me wrong... I love Christmas and spending time with family, which I've been blessed with a large one, but lets face it... you can't watch tv, listen to the radio, or go out somewhere without the stores trying to shove Christmas down your throat. Come on, do we really need Christmas supplies out in mid September? IMO It's the pressure from the commercial side of Christmas that causes most of the stress. As a child, you didn't have to worry about these things at Christmas. Ah, the good old days.

Actually, I'm quite surprised you had to pay at all. Couldn't you just chop one down from your neighbor's property?
As for the cost, those "christmas trees" don't grow well in the south, and to my knowledge they don't grow at all in Florida.... :p
Anyway, Merry Christmas Everyone!!!
