Thread Cleanups
Ok being a mod, I'm trying to keep things tame and go through and clean up some unnecessary junk. Basically here's how I look at the post:
1. Is the post in question applicable to the forum? This is fairly easy to answer.
2. Does the poster in question have any real reason to be posting on that thread?
3. Does a previous deletion I made make this post moot and unnecessary?
4. Is the post unnecessarily inflammatory?
5. Is the post a duplicate?
Now number 2 is the iffy one. Generally I leave all the server admin posts unless it falls into number 3. If it's a regular Joe posting to a "Complaint/Gripe" thread and it is NOT their complaint/gripe I delete it. Admins have enough trouble sorting out problems and difficulties without everyone else and their Canadian pal adding in their 2 cents. Well alot of times that makes a Server Admin's response to that particular individual moot so I delete that as well.
Or, such as in the case of Icepick's well made post as to ban excuses. It was posted and humerous, many made reference to it being humerous. Then someone with a low level of humor gets on and starts trolling/flaming the thread and a all out war breaks out. Well hell, I don't want someone coming there, reading this very humerous post and then getting all pissy when it degenerates. So I deleted them, left the primary post and the reason for making it stickey and annotated it. Keeps what I think Ice intended with the post alive, and stops the clutter that others can cause and draw away from his intent. Only reason I deleted the well deserved Kudos at the beginning as well is because it didn't make much sense that there is all these Kudos and then just a close.... Makes more sense to me.
Like I said, not trying to silence anyone here or overstep my bounds. Just trying to keep things clean for the rest of the admins so they can easily sort through it. If you have an issue please feel free to PM me and CC Horse, Packet, and Crotch on the issue and it will be worked out. We have enough headaches around here without the clutter in one of the most important forums (complaints/gripes) . Also if you have a complaint/gripe address it yourself on the forum, because if you have a "friend" do it I'm just going to delete it. At least have the courage to stand up for yourself and your desire to play on these servers, that says more to at least me than most anything else.
Sincerely,
