but the thing is there is no "reference" for NVidia cards as they are all 3rd party
|
?????? cmon i have an nvidia manufactured video card, which is a "refrence" board so i don't know where your looking but i can get just about any card direct from nvidia, they just don't come with as much stuff in the box, and they cost a little more because they are full power cards

You can Bonez? Where might that be because I went to the Nvidia site and all the links to go to buy their products and let's see..... All I get is things like Gainward Nvidia...., PNY NVidia..., XFX NVidia..., I see NO NVidia Nvidia cards. And I meant there is no publically available Nvidia reference cards, they're sent purely to the places like Tom's hardware to benchmark, and manufacturers so that they have something to design their cards off of.
And actually I can fine ZERO pure Nvidia cards on Pricewatch. They are all 3rd party manufacturers. So care to provide a link?

My FX5900 has been a good card. I have it overclocked to 450/975 with coolbits. It runs stable there with temps around 50 to 55 celcius in game. I has not given me too much trouble except when the drivers got corrupt while playing BFV. I ended up tabbing out of the game to do some stuff on my desktop and in the process. The game crashed. When I rebooted and went to restart BFV, I got the global "BFV has encountered a problem and needs to close".
I tried an uninstall and reinstall of BFV.. did'nt fix the issue. Therefore, I went and started down the list of "other items" that cause game issues. First thing I did was uninstall and reinstall the nvidia drivers - that fixed the problem.
Overall, I have had both brands of video cards over the years. I have both an ATI 8500LE 128mbddr card and an ATI 8500 64mbddr card in two of my computers. I have the FX5900 in my normal machine I play on and a GF4Ti4600 in another one that I have here at the house. I have not had any problems with either brand.
Why I choose my video cards is based purely on price.. performance for the $$ and somewhat on reviews. I do buy name brand or manufacturer built cards. My ATI are ATI built cards. My GF4ti is a PNY card. My FX5900 is a BFG card. I would purchase an ATI 9800 Ultimate if the price was right. However, right now I am going to wait until summer and maybe pick up one of the new cards at that time.

Hehehehehehe i am NOT a linsux zealot - I personally hate the shit - Its just a good quick and dirty cheapass voip solution - tie that with a little IP clue, and bob's your uncle. But, you work for a telco, im sure there's an office shortage of cluepons kicking around there

Damn Packet the man said he won't spend more than $200 for a card, no way will he spring for the V9980.
But I did. This bad boy is giving me 110 FPS with maxed settings. Now I do admit I run my resolution at 1026x768, but I have to because of my LCD restraints. Ya see I bought my LCD monitor about two years ago, and I could buy a newer one, but this one still looks good, too good to give to my wife.

I have had so many different types of video cards, i will stay with ati. btw ati cards are much more stable and do not bsod on overclock. However, I did buy my wife a geforce lately and it works great for her.
I think I need more opinions.... Lots of good points, but i need more advice.
