What card should I buy.
I have read the reviews and I have narrowed it down to the 9800 pro, but i can get 2 different types.
9800 pro 128 mb (200.00)
9800 pro 256 mb(290.00)
Apparentley the 128 (when overclocked) performs almost as well as the 9800 xt.
I do not mind overclocking the card because i run my cpu oc'd and have oc'd my 9000 pro many a time with no problems.
I really think i will go with the 128mb because i kind of feel that spending an extra 90.00 is not worth it to me.
I think video cards in general are over priced and i usually will not spend more than 200.00 anyway, but i wanted to know if anyone has either one of those cards and what they think of it. I know that newer ati cards run like shit on bfv, but that will be fixed sooner or later. I do not need to know about gayforce because, i HATE nvidia graphics.

Be carefull Toe because the 9800's vary on how much they can be overclocked. You can buy two off of the same shelf and one can be overclocked like nobody's business and you might only be able to increase the second one by 2 points. Actually ran into this when I upgraded myself and a friend to a 9800 Pro. Bought both on the same day off the same shelf. His could be overclocked, mine could not. Of course keep in mind in BF:V I am currently running at 1280x960x32 with everything on high and get about 80 FPS. The XT isn't really that big of an improvement from what I hear. Also make sure you get a pure ATI and not a 3rd party card. All the problems I have heard of people having with ATI cards and various games have been 3rd party cards like Sapphire and the like who have much lower quality of products.

Put the ****ing ATI crack DOWN - ATI's are good hardware, and thats where it ends. The software is shite, the drivers are worse, And ATI has a really bad business team (Cant make very good support deals).
If you want a card that works well, rarely has problems, and has compatibility with almost every game, Go nvidia.

Yeah, problem though is that it is AGP. By the end of the year all the major Mobo's (i.e. Abit, Intel, etc.) are going to be PCI-X, and supposedly ATI's next line of cards are supposed to be PCI-X as well.
And Packet I have had ZERO problems with my ATI. Don't know what crack your smoking but the only problems I have ever heard of with ATI cards have either been from 5 years ago, or because the idiots bought 3rd party ATI cards instead of buying pure ATI. Not my fault if people want to be cheap and end up getting burned for it. And actually Trahn has had more problems with his 5900 than I have had with my 9800. Far more problem I would say with almost every game requiring tweaks and driver reloads.

ok this is allways how it seems, americans seem to side with ati, a canadian company, while canadians side with nvidia. now ati cards do put out more fps (woopido like i give a damn) while nvidia dosen't put out as much fps but they do have better quality (smoke shadow water particle) now it depends on what you want, ok quality high fps (think riced car, fast but not worth shit) or high quality and above ok fps (italian sports car, looks good works good sucks gas).
i would go nvidia and tran should backtrack the drivers to what's on the bfv disk (they work better then the standard drivers)

Actually if you check the actual reviews such as Tom's Hardware you'll find pure ATI's score MUCH higher in terms of support, stability, FPS, the whole 9 yds. It's the 3rd party cards that are pieces of crap. I mean think about it, an ATI 9800 pro is about what... $200-$250 I believe? You can get a Sapphire ATi Radeon 9800 Pro for around $75.... what does that tell you? It says the Sapphire company uses cheap parts. NVidia has the exact same problem, it all depends on manufacturer. I know awesome Nvidia manufacturers and I've seen some down right shitty ones who had cards that went out in a month, or had compatibility problems with games. but the thing is there is no "reference" for NVidia cards as they are all 3rd party. At least with ATI you can get one straight from the company that designed the chips in the first place.
