SBC DSL.. Anyone have it?
The new subdivision that I am moving too is within DSL range for internet connection. SBC currently is offering a "Pro" package for $36.99 month. This is a 3.0mb connection down. I am currently on Road Runner at 2.0 for about $10.00 more per month. I have not had an experience with DSL and some people say it is not as good as cable.. I myself am willing to gamble on it since my connection as of late to most of the east coast sucks through RR.
Any comments?? Anyone use SBC?

I have had experience with both DSL and cable, I personally like cable more, speed wise, I go through Adelphia. I however have been unhappy with my cable carrier, because it has gone down on a few occasions for more than a day at a time. On the other hand, I had set up DSL in prior office, and found that although it was more stable, just didnt stand up to the cable. I know people like drayu, who have cable, have had better stability luck than I, and as of late, I have been happier with it. IF you are asking for a preference, I would go cable.

I have sbc dsl package for like $30 a month or something. It works fine for me, and pings are fine online. But I have never had cable, so I couldnt compare the two.

Trahn, go to dslreports.com and look up SBC in your zip code. see if anyone has posted any reviews in your area. SBC may be good in one area, but not in another. that goes for every ISP.
i've had both Adelphia cable and Bellsouth DSL here. i personally prefer the DSL because it's MUCH more stable, and latency is somewhat lower. again, this is in my area. your results may vary.

I second HP's suggestion.
Go to dslreports.com and look there for user feedback. And, if you have problems with your line they can sometimes fix them without going through all the BS of Customer Support.
http://www.dslreports.com/forum/ilec,swbell
Is the SBC forum.
http://www.dslreports.com/forum/sbcdirect
Is the SBC direct forum, (users with direct access to SBC, and ways to fix/expedite things)
This goes for anyone using SBC, or for that matter any dsl provider, go to this site and see if you can get any problems you have resolved.
And yes, I get paid a penny every time I say DSLreports.com........... BTW you guys owe me a nickel.

I use SBC and have been fine with it, pretty good service and it's never been down but I've always had it in northern california/bay area, however they cap your upload which sucks if you upload many a file, i believe mine's capped at 32kb/sec anywho thats my two cents
