Battlefield series coming to PS2

Electronic Arts and Digital Illusions have today announced the development of Battlefield: Modern Combat for the PlayStation 2. Currently scheduled for release towards the end of this year, the game will be the first in the Battlefield series to appear on a console and will allow up to 24 players to battle with each other simultaneously online whilst communicating with each other via USB headsets.

Battlefield: Modern Combat will allow players to fight for one of three military superpowers: the United States, China, or the newly formed Middle East Coalition. Players will have access to over 70 different state-of-the-art weapons and advanced weapon systems in the game, including heat-seeking missiles, laser designated bombs, and the like. The 30-plus vehicles in the game will include tanks, helicopters, and fast attack vehicles.

what happened to battlefield for xbox, oh wait ea doen't like live because it makes more sence then giving it out for free (live isen't just voice and connection, it's stats tracking, player name regestry[so no name copy shiz] and buddy lists, content download, ect ect ect) trust me live is only $7 a month and you get auto stats, auto player reg, the acess to download servers for content.

now for the ps2 thing, i seriously doubt that it will be as good as bf1942 for the reason that the system is not "designed" to do the whole super large level with high poly modeled veichles that are able to move (remember it's voice chat only)

in my opinion, don't bother putting it on ps2, put it on a system that can actually "play" the original bf1942, or stick to pc

Agreed, first person shooters just don't play well on console systems. However, money talks and in the gaming business console game development is where the money is. Has anyone noticed how the PC software aisles at Best Buy, Circuit City, and EB have been steadily shrinking? Don't blame the smaller boxes, they can't save THAT much space.

Ps2 was never meant for first person shooers or graphically demanding games... so stfu EA - you're worthless.
