Do you plan on buying music from ITunes? If not anything other than an IPod is a viable solution. IPod is like Bose, people think because it's popular it's the best. I myself got an IRiver and love it. Mine is 20GB and can be used as a portable HD. I hook mine up through USB and just drag and drop files over.
I took it with me on my honeymoon to NZ and Australia. Whenever my camera memory card was full I just dropped it all over to the IRiver. It helped me store ALOT more than I had planned. I have prob 4GB of music plus 1GB of other files on there. I got mine in August and the screen isn't all that great. The newer versions allow you to view jpgs and bitmaps on your player too.

Personally I wouldnt get an ipod. It seems like everybody has one and I really just dont like them. I would buy the new creative 5gb zen thingy for $250, and its got an fm radio.

Your logic confuses me. If 'everyone has them' wouldnt that because its earned itself a solid reputation?

I will have to stand behind A$$a$$in on this, but not for that reason, and yes everyone has one, so I agree with Packet, but my reasons are more towards the company and problems in the past not with the IPOD. Anyway, I like the RIO's. Have used them, and never had a problem with them, did you ever consider EBAY Zeus?

I agree with you Packet, but that's not the reason I'm not recommending the IPod. Like I've said before I use my IRiver as a portable HD, and have a shit load on there more than just music. It's nice to be able to take all that with you.
