Currently I am getting my masters degree in special education/reading. Funny thing is that all of our teachers have taken this theory and bashed it apart. They absolutely hate when someone mentions it, because it is not entirely true. Your vocabulary is made up of sight words, words you know by looking at them. 65% of all english is made up of the first 300 sight words you learn as a child by 3rd grade. But to read words you don't know, you actually have to sound them out and follow the rules to the english language........
