New Computer up and running!!

Well, I spent the $$ and did a small overhaul of my computer... What I had before was not bad.. Abit Kv8-Max3 mb.. AMD 64 3200 with a Thermaltake Volcano Cooler and 1 gig of Corsair Value Select memory.. Along with a BFG Tech 6800 GT/OC 256mb Vid card..and Audigy 2ZS sound card.

The system worked and ran fine.. but I wanted a bit more poop.. So..

I now have an AMD 64 3700+ cpu with a Zalman CNPS7000B cooler, 2 gig of Corsair Xtreme XMS pc3200 memory. I am using the same motherboard and sound and video cards.

Have I seen a difference? Yes! Graphics look way more crisp.. load times for the game and just in general seem much faster.. I have not benchmarked the system yet.. However, I know that it will be alot better than what I had before.

Have you ever thought about putting a ram drive in your comp? You can get a PCI ram drive from giga byte and use your old RAM. You could install your complete game on the drive......talk about fast loading times...(maybe you need some additional gb though, but hell money doesnt make happy anyway )

Never thought of that...I'll have to check it out. I may end up buying another motherboard and taking the old CPU/Heatsink & Fan and system memory and building another machine.....Or upgrading one of the other machines I have....

Rexalot has one of my computers... AMD XP2800 Barton, with 1.5gig of pc2700 DDR ram.. FX5900 128mb vid card... Might upgrade that box..

Choices, choices....
