Arcade Cabinet

I have been wanting to make an upright arcade cabinet (mame box) for a long time.

I have searched around online for months getting prices for used cabinets parts etc....

I found a guy with a warehouse! What a warehouse it is..I am getting a FREE upright cabinet with 2 joys and 5 buttons. He even gave me the coin op slots. 2 speakers upper cabinet light (i am putting a black light in.) Free!! its in decent shape too!

Did you know that galaga sells on eBay for like 2000.00 if its in good shape and original?

Well this guy happens to have a 100% original and 99.99% in tact galaga arcade game! I am getting it next week. Guess how much i am paying for it? 400.00!

It only needs galaga stickers and i can get that online CHEAP. I am going to buy it and put it on eBay. Wow what luck.

He has a cocktail cabinet of ms. pack man. he gave it to a friend. he has burgertime etc..

This guy does not understand the Value these old games hold to collecters. He went as far as to tell me how to get them at auctions in orlando.

I think i found hobby thats gonna make money.

HP can you make it by 1PM?

That's cool toetag. Last year, I bought a almost new Skins Game arcade game from an arcade distributor for $500.00. They had it sitting in a movie theater and it wasn't making money for god knows how many years. So they just wanted to recup some $. It was in pristine condition.

Once I got it home, I built a new controller panel to accomodate mame/sf2/Neo-Geo button configurations. Then I built a pc to run mame. Connect it all up and voila! an arcade machine that runs 2000+ games!

Friends love it when they come over for parties and such. Neighborhood kids love it cause they get to play arcade games for free.

Super Auction

These guys know the value of these collector items.

Super Auctions

Haven't been; going in June.

I have a Mr. Do game in pretty good shape that I bought on eBay. Need to clean up the cabinet and add power switch and volume.

Well i have started to work on it agan. I do not have side art atm (for my mame box). But i made my own bezel and the entire front of the cabinet (bezel included ) has about 400 glow in the dark stickers with 3 sets of blacklights (one under ther control panel) (one behinnd merquee) and i have not decided where i am putting the third one. I figure its going to be about 2 more weeks before its done, but i will have pics soon for those that are interested.

I got the sound hooked up with some stock 3.5 mids, but it sounds ok.

I will be getting some cheapie 15.00-20.00 speakers today. I was going to get a 2 sat 1 sub setup, but after hearing what the 3.5's do, i can tell you that having a sub would be overkill.

In a couple of weeks comes the fun part. i am getting a component called I-Pac. It basically allows you to plug into a usb port and wire arcade buttons and arcade sticks.

I tried something called a keyboard hack and it is not hard, but you basically have to wire keyboard controller pins to the keyboard matrix x2 for every pin.

thats like 60 or so wires connected to a pin group about the size of a stick of dentine chewing gum.

For those that think this kind of thing is way to expensive to do, i will say that i have invested (so far) about 150.00 .

The pc is running xp pro 512 mb ram (pc 133) gf2 mx 400 (greatest card ever made) amd k6-2 450 on a Asus p5a on an old ata 66 maxtor drive.

If anyone ever decides to do this. ask me for some links because i have the ones that count. When it comes to searching for roms mame etc.. 99.99% of the time the links are nothing more than spyware and vote for the top 50 crap.
