consider the source. from what i see, the article's context is very different than what other news agences around the world are reporting. even the Russians are condemning this. http://news.google.com/nwshp?hl=en&t...3Fid%3D1410133

i think i'll put my money on the rest of the world's opinion rather than a possibly self serving Islamic publication's view.

I don't know how we will react. But I know one thing, and that is that it probably won't be as hard as I wich it to be. Obviousley your country has the will and recourses. We might have the recourses but lack the will on bringing them back to earth.

That my country would be engaged in something like this, is only wichfull thinking.

Well HP, that's the thing. The source. It's an islamic newspaper that posted the exact translation of what he said.
Why would the newspaper lie about what he said? There is no reason for them to try and save his face. If he really did say it, then the islamists would have reported that as well, instead of trying to hide him. It's not like they say "Bad move, mr. President, let's see if we can get you out of this."

do you understand that most of the media is state controlled in that part of the world? most of their media oulets are not free, especially in Iran where they control the message to the public.

i haven't seen any publication anywhere that says the guy disputes what is being reported. i can find thousands of stories from countries all over the world talking about how their government's are codemning the statement. furthermore, i can find stories on people who think just like this guy and whom agree with what was said. http://www.iranmania.com/News/Articl...rent%20Affairs. i can even find Arabic publications that say he said it. http://english.aljazeera.net/NR/exer...69283105BF.htm

i don't know why you are trying to defend him so much. faced with thousands of reports and condemnations from people across the world, what he said is right on par with his "wiping Israel off the Map" statement he made back in October. i see no reason to give the guy the benefit of doubt and i certainly don't think he or his hardline religious zealot government deserve it.
