Beheading
I saw the video and i want to tell everyone that it is a shame that we live in 2004 and still see archaic behavior from human beings. It goes beyond war it goes beyon humiliation. It is animalistic and I firmly beleive that when they find the ones who did it that they should receive an equally horrifing treatment.

I am appalled that the American public tolerates this from those militants, but yet cry foul when we torture some to get info to stop these kinds of things. Are we a nation of pussies and cry-babies?

The World feels that America has to have the high moral ground when dealing with everyone else. That we must behave ourselves when dealing with our enemies. These people (Middle East) only understand one thing & that is Brute Force.Any compassion on our part is perceived as a weakness by those people. If the situation was reversed, do you think they would be worried about public oppinion? Hell no they wouldnt care one bit. So I propose we go back in time to the saying "When in Rome do as the Romans would."A Nation can only be civil to another Nation when both share the same Ideals.

shoving broomsticks and lightsticks up the Iraqi prisoners asses is not torture, it's is a perverted sexual act by those that perpetrated it. i do find that and some of the other things that happened appalling. in fact, i think they are borderline war crimes. should US soldiers be above international law? not when we hold others accountable by those same standards. we should not get special treatment.
homosexuality and activities related to it are a MAJOR no-no in the Arab world. we just offended a shitload of people. i'm not surprised to see the retaliation. you can bet there's more to come.

They killed one poor bastard to deliver a message that went world wide, and shook a LOT of people up. How many people die in the average american airstrike when they deliver a message?
When you have no physical way to fight back against a (percieved?) threat to your religion/countrymen, you have to make use of the weapons you have. In this case it was the media. If they kill one 'infidel' to deliver a message that makes you drop your happy meal, and stop watching your sitcom for a second, and think that people just like you are being killed over there, maybe you will change your vote, maybe you will call for your troops to leave. (Remember vietnam?)
Im not condoning beheading of innocents, im just looking at it from their perspective. What would you do if you were bob the iraqi who has been invaded by the americans and now has no job/power/water/school and has fighting going on in the streets?

I am not condoning what went on in the prison over there (the same shit happens in prison here..albeit Prisoner on Prisoner).
Do you think that if the roles were reversed & The Arab World was in charge of our country do you think they would be concerned about world oppinion? I think not.......
Was the pretext of invading Iraq wrong? Applying some hindsight yes.... Should we just up & leave? No....
Iraq would be on a better course if their own people would stop blowing up pipelines/water facilties & other infrastructures that would enable that poor avg Iraqi to have the basic necessities....
Its a proven fact If the USA destroys your country We will come in & rebuild it for you.....However if you defeat the USA, it will take longer for said country to rebuild itself.....

maybe if the US government stopped propping up & overthrowing Arab governments and showed an even hand in the Israel/Palestinian dispute they will stop blowing up our buildings and chopping our citizen's heads off. oh wait, that won't happen. we need the oil...

it's like the guns talk, if they don't have guns they won't shoot each other. so what did they do, they picked up knives and hacked each other to death.
in my opinion shoulden't have gone in there in the first place (or atleast used assassians, oh wait can't do it cause of a certan president) but the fact that they did this one same as last one is stupid. same old tatic, airstrike "military" areas, land tanks, put down foot patrols.
and the whole having tech being better, perfect example vietnam, us had new weapons nva/vc had old russian gear and who won. remember the arab world has been fighting amongst them selves so going in there only gives them a reason to work together and by pissing off one group of arabs you pissed them all off.
my prediction is that it's going to go straight to hell from this point on in iraq, and i seriously hope noone that has anything to do with the "war" gets cought in the cross fire agian (as for the beheading, yes it was a retal for the degradement of over 30 arab men, there will be more)

The simple fact that we're having this discussion is exactly what those guys wanted. Mission accomplished.
