Photoshop. If the jet was flying faster than the speed of sound... the picture of it wouldn't be that clear. There would be more blur to it, the details wouldn't stick out.

That's a really high speed camera... assuming that at full zoom you could keep up with a jet going faster than sound. I don't think so.

i dont know if that particualr photo is 'shopped' or not, but high speed jets do make similar vapor trails. there was a thread about an F14 tribute around here somewhere that i think shows it.

it's not following the object, it's stationary with a high shutter rate and specalised film.
same as how they have perfect pictures of bullets in flight(which are more often then not faster then a jet)
that of which being the most famous.

BUT, a bullet is easy to capture. There aren't details on a bullet... it's one color... everywhere. A jet has all sorts of details on it, and I don't think that at that speed, despite the camera, every detail would shine through.

I don't know about you guys, but to me it looks like a giant egg in the sky, with a jet flying out of it... meh, maybe I really should wear my glasses 24/7..
