Consumerreports.com wants a paid subscription, anyone know any free alternatives? Right now I am looks for autos, but I have previously wanted a service for everything from grills to refrigerators.

i use their website for $5 a month. just cancel the subscription when you're done. you could go to your local library. usually they carry Consumer Reports. also, your local library may subscribe to Ebsco and you could search their database for Consumer Reports Buying guide at your home computer. i've done that. it's completely free.
