no its not..its no different than recording it onto a vcr.
considering i can get the shows that i already pay for with cable in hd before they come out here, i prefer bittorrent. theres nothing wrong with that...

sure there is. it's not an authorized means of distribution. just because you can record something doesn't mean you are allowed to redistribute it, nor does it mean you are allowed to receive the content in other ways than what the network provides for you. it's not yours. ABC owns the copyright and dictates what can and can't be done with the material. you must obtain permission to use, record and distribute their material beyond personal use. serving their content without their approval is illegal redistribution.
apparently you haven't been paying attention to the shit-fit the RIAA is having about people distributing(sharing) music. the same rules apply for TV content. just because you own the CD or recorded the CD doesn't mean you are allowed to offer it for upload or get it via download on bitorrent. tell the people who have had to pay thousands of dollars in fines for sharing MP3's and movies that they are allowed to do this. many of those people have submitted as arguements in court that they own the material and proved it. it didn't matter.

so you can't watch it? i just clicked on it and it ran immediately, no questions asked. they must be resolving your IP. i can show you how to get around that, but it will take a little footwork on your part. hit me up in a PM if you're interested.

How can you say i have not been paying attention..this is a completly different subject all together. There is no inherent warning on distribution for tv, there is on the superbowl..and downloading the superbowl is illegal. but there is no warning that you must follow for tv, no agreement signed and no eula is accepted.. now with music and movies, by opening the package and playing the cd you are accepting the eula that is clearly marked on both the cd case, the cd itself and in the liner notes.
i know all about the RIAA lawsuits, who the f* doesnt. It seems as though with your last posts at me that you think im an idiot. i dont know what your getting at.
And still, what about increased distribution, south park is a perfect example. They encourage sharing because it increases distribution of the show.
I dont have time to watch shows when they come on during the week, and all the HDTV dvr's out there are restricted to your cable company making it nearly impossible to get the content off the box and onto another device (ipod, laptop etc). Yes, when tivo series 3 boxes come out (whenever the hell they do) I will be one of the first to get one. I dont even care if my hi-def shows are drm'ed for only my laptop....THATS FINE, i just want to be able to watch my programs whenever i want and on at least something other than my tv.
oh...and a $3,000 hdtv tuner media center pc is not happening.

Need I say more? I wasn't trying to make you sound like an idiot. I was, however, trying to polint out that you are misinformed.
MPAA targets TV download sites
Continuing its war on Internet file-swapping sites, the Motion Picture Association of America said Thursday that it has filed lawsuits against a half-dozen hubs for TV show trading.
The trade association said that piracy of TV programming is growing quickly online, and that shows are as important to protect as big-budget films. This is the first legal action from the group that has focused most heavily on TV content.
"Every television series depends on other markets (such as) syndication and international sales to earn back the enormous investment required to produce the comedies and dramas we all enjoy," MPAA Chief Executive Officer Dan Glickman said in a statement. "Those markets are substantially hurt when that content is stolen."
The latest round of suits retains a focus on BitTorrent technology, which has been widely used online to distribute movies and films.
The suits are focused on the sites that serve as traffic directors for BitTorrent swaps, rather than on individual computer users uploading and downloading content. The MPAA also has sued individuals, but has not said how many people have been targeted.

Redistribution of copyrighted material is illegal in the United States no matter what the content is. I rest my case.
