need help with music genre

Ok, so I have been yearning for a very specific type of music. It's like Mariachi (or even could *be* mariachi), but with less singing, less violin, and lots of trumpet and guitar. Basically less cliche mariachi... Think Kill Bill 1 soundtrack with the slower trumpet solo (not the esmeralda suite). There are also a few blips in "Happy Feet" with this type of songs in it. So my question is, if you know what I'm talking about, can you reccomend any good artists with this sound?

No definitely not Ska. It's certainly music from Mexico or another Latin American country. And they're not 16 year old punk wannabies =)
