I currently suck and get frustrated reading the online tabs. They always seem to be different depending on who creates them and it is confusing the hell out of me. Can someone point me to a large directory of tabs that do not have different styles? Meaning some say look like simple X/O for each string and the there are some that use numbers. Its like there is not any standard way of doing it. I want to learn some songs, but its a pain in the ass when the scheme keeps changing.

Because I get lost reading the tabs, i end up doing my own thing, which i do not mind at all, but I would like to find a more uniform way to learn a few songs.

PS I have not taken any lessons yet.

Once upon a time....
j/k when I was 11 I took up the guitar because that's what my friends were into. At that time, there were 1900 or so chord variations.... I immediately decided to play the bass instead....played for thirteen years and never took a lesson.... good luck!

you just need to be a little more patient and learn to read the tabs. no site i know of is perfect for the tabs but if it just says the chord names heres a good site for chords http://chordfind.com/ (my fav) or http://www.xs4all.nl/~hippy/chords/ as far as tableture like i said be patient and learn it.
