Eh. Hem. Nvidia 8800?? Please... 3970
(forgive the typo in the title)
I am proud to say, the 8800 is no longer the fastest graphics card on the market. The Crown belongs to ATI once again. But than again, ATI has more reliable products... Better Video play back... Faster decoding, oh and it keeps your processor free for other things... So yeah, you Nvidia fans... Bite me?

Reason: Too estatic for a card I want to own.

Thats not true. The 3870 beats the 8800 ultra in COD4, Crisis, UT3, in FPS, with and without filtering and AA. Also there is far less power consumption, and the possibility of running four of these bad boys, not three... Idk why Nvidia would go with a three slot PCI-e 2.0 design.. Its 300$ cheaper than the 8800ultra OC edition, and faster in test results... Oh, I forgot, you can go beyond 1080pi, and you can plug a HDTV right into the card itself. This card is better is every aspect. Nvidia fans are just going to have to wait for the overpriced 9000chipset.
Oh yeah, last edit here... lol, the 3870 reached a benchmark in videocard history... 1TF of GPU power... Sorry...

My 8800 GTS 640 MB card should be OK for another year or so... before it's obsolete... My P4 processor though, needs to be retired.

The CrossfireX Technology is functional, it isn't using 16x speeds atm, the drivers have yet to be released, you are right there, but you can use four video cards, at 8x speeds, or 3 video cards at 16x speeds. I'd say the second quarter of 2008 should bring the drivers for the 16x speeds for four video cards, along with the release of the r700 chipset. It uses CtM(close to metal) technology which will give you unheard of speeds and advancements in video quality. Have over a 1Ghz Core clock on a video card should put Nvidia in it's place. GDDR5 will be introduced as well on the r700 chipset(it will indeed blow the 9000 chipset away). I'm not sayin that you should buy the 3870, I'm just saying that I'm happy as an ATI fan that Nvidia is no longer the dominate party in the graphics card industry. I see it as two areas in the fight for superiority, Video Quality, and of course that area for us Gamers. ATI has always led the video quality field, but now they have the Gamer field. The 3870 is an impressive piece of work, and will open new advancements for both company's. Thats what ATI does, they innovate, and Nvidia does use their Technology. So it should also be something Nvidia fans should be happy about.
