The missile shield is not offensive weapons targetted at Russia. They are defensive weapons that will shoot down missiles that are coming out of Russia.
Putting defenses in position is NOT an act of war. That is like saying putting locks on my doors will only make criminals want to steal my stuff more. Or even closer. Saying that by owning a gun to defend myself Criminals will want to attack me more.
Simple fact is, if the enemy knows that if they lauch a missile or 2 at targets in Europe they will never reach their targets. This is a huge deterrent.
Poland has been on the recieving end of that before. About 70 years ago they were being all nice riding around on their Horse Cavalry and the German Tanks rolled in. It took them about 60 years to get their freedom back. They are not going to want to go through that again and i don't blame them.
This is the reason why America has bases in Europe. SOMEONE has to be there to stop the bad guys when they decide to attack, even if the people that live there won't... Like France in WW2. The world cannot afford another war like WW2.
I don't think that the next war will be nuclear. I think it is going to be about strategic strikes and huge guerilla wars similar to what Iraq was just on a much bigger scale. I still think it is going to be
The US, the rest of North America, England, Australia and Japan vs. Russia, China, North Korea, Iran, and the terrorists everywhere else. The first country to be attacked will be either Israel or the former Russian states in the Balkans.
This Georgia thing was a test. They wanted to see what the response would be. I would say that they are very happy with it. No one lifted a finger. This is how World War 3 will start. Someone is going to roll into another country and say " this is ours now" Just like Hitler and Poland. Then like Hitler they will spread to a few more "remote" countries until they have a nice big border around their home so teh fighting will take place on conquered land. Then they are going to hit countries like Germany, Italy, Japan, and the like.
Either we stop them or we are toast.
There is an Axis of Evil in the world. Some people jsut refuse to believe it.

plus its not like the old times of 100 yrs of peace because DUH THEIR ARE THINGS CALLED NUKES/planes etc new technology has made the threat of war so much more alive i guess is what im trying to say not like u have to walk 2 months to attack a country anymore thats y it was so much easier to have peace bakc then than it is to have peace right now :}
