Game Performance Help

I just recently upgraded my vid card from a GeForce 3 Ti 200 to a Radeon 9600. I'm testing the ATI card to see if I want to buy it from a guy at work. After playing DC and BF:V for awhile, I've come to the conclusion that my GeForce3 plays the game better. I can't figure it out but the Radeon 9600 just doesnt play either game as smooth. I have AA/AF turned to game preference. Anyone might know why this is? I have the 4.3 catalyst drivers installed.

I had DC lock up entirely last night, my whole PC froze. I've never had that happen with my other card. Also, when I turn around to look sometimes I get a slight freeze. I haven't really played with the settings on the card, so if anyone can offer suggestions I'd appreciate it.

What version do you suggest? I'm not too familiar with ATI.

i usually don't upgrade drivers once i am satisified that they are stable, or unless i have issues(such as a new game). i think i was using 3.9 Cats before. i've seen some people say that 4.2 Cats were pretty good. i'd try them first.

"An important info has come to my attention, if you have a Radeon 9600 Pro/NP/XT card,
regardless of the manufacturer, you MUST enable Fastwrites to make it work
properly, if not, you may experience crashes and lockups! (This is only a temporary
fix until ATI resolves the problem) OR you can lower the Hardware Acceleration slider
one notch in the Windows display options."

Hmmmm

Didn't I read someplace that EA signed an agreement with Nvidia to optimize all their games to Nvidia video cards or was I dreaming? That might be an ATI problem only. However, I have an FX5900, it seems to do the job. Yet, I still seem to get lag bubbles and short pauses in the BFV server. I do not know if that is what you were/are experienceing. One of the guys (Mohawk?)suggested it was the server manager regarding to number of players in the server. After 26 people join in the server starts to lag some. IT could also be the settings on the video cards.

Other than that, I have been having a great time. Thanks Packetloss for putting up the servers.

Yeah, its a known lag issue with anything greater than 26 players. We're hoping it will be fixed next patch.

issues

my issue is a little diffrent, as you know i'm prolly running the slowest system outta all of you, but i get some weird video lag i will run and it will stop my fps completely and i can still hear sounds and stuff and even when i keep moving when my video kicks in i'm like 30ft from where i just was

you know the story and for thoese who don't
P3 1ghz
512pc133
geforce 2 MX400 64mb
sb16

insult all you want about my system, the thing is it will run just about anything i put on there, and the video glitch only happens on some maps and not on win servers
