Aces High 2

hi guys... if you are like me then you like racing games and flying games.... specially flight sims.

well aces high 2 is about the funnest flight sim i have ever played.

its a flight sim GAME with fun gameplay and its mmo.

normally i stay away from mmos but this one is different.

there is like a map that is like 500-700 square kilometers and there are 250 bases on it!

three teams that are each trying to capture 70% of the bases on the entire map.

the way you capture bases is by destroying a base and its supply lines, then you send in somebody in a plane that has "troops" inside of it that you drop like bombs with parachutes.

they run to the tower and the base is yours.

the teams can be up to 250 v 250 v 250 (what i have seen as the max capacity is 800 so three teams will each have about 250)

you are literally in a WAR. games go on for weeks. you join and then your team captures a few bases and loses a few bases. then you leave and come back the next day and the people that play in other parts of the world have capped and lost bases. so the battlefield has changed.

each base is spread out by at least (ballparking) 20 kilometers maybe. it takes about 3 to 4 minutes to fly from one base to the next closest.

people on your team organize missions that you can join up on. each mission has a specific number of planes in different classes.

an example of the missions is such:
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
mission title: ninjaserve buff run
mission start time: 19:15
current time: 18:45
estimated mission duration: 40 - 45 minutes
mission objective: "attack the rooks from knight 232"
mission aircraft and loadout:
-12 B-17 : 12 100 lb bombs, 1/2 fuel, 12 50 cal guns, full loadout
-10 B-24 : 6 100 lb bombs, 1 500 lb bomb, 1/2 fuel, 8 50 cal guns, full loadout
-8 Lancaster 3 : 20 100 lb bombs, 1/2 fuel, 3 50 cal guns, full loadout
-14 P-47 Mustangs: 2 50 gal drop tanks, 4 50 cal machine guns, full loadout, 1/1 fuel
-6 c-47 : 10 troops, 1/1 fuel

Mission specifics:
"we are going to take off from K232 and hit the Rook bases "R65, R67, R70, R69, R68, R55" we are going to hit to Rook refinery "R71" and Rook barracks "R75"

because there are no red bars over grid squares (1,7) (1,8) (1,9) expect light resistance however we will make an impression and expect heavy resistance to arrive when we turn south toward (2,9) (3,10)

we will be hitting the targets in the order "R65, R67, R70, R71, R75, R69, R68, R55" and then we will land in base K215.

each bomber will have the formation option selected and will be controlling 3 planes. our intention is to capture each base on the list and destroy the refinery and barracks.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

---- the total number of flying objects that are controlled by the group of people in this mission if it fills out is 110 PLANES!!!--------

then people will be like! hey we have a buff run set up and we need people to sign up. it starts at 19:30

people join the mission and then around 19:25 they land their planes or crash to get back on the ground. when 19:30 hits all participants are instantly at the mission start point in the designated plane they signed up for.

then you can tune your radio to a frequency that the mission commanders assign and we all organize the run together.

bombers fly in formation and adjust air/fuel ratios as they climb and set the autopilot to a designated speed. that way we all can get together in one big bunch and fly together.

the example mission i listed would be as big as the biggest mission i have ever been on. and its alot of fun.
others may be as simple as capturing one base. usually those are organized over the radio though.

those that dont want to be a part of a mission look at the map and decide where air support is needed then fly a fighter there and start downing enemy fighters and bombers that they see.

----

there are a few aspects that i listed in the mission you may not know about. the map is devided into a 100 square grid and each grid has an assignment in the upper left corner. in terms of (x,y). (0,0) is the upper left square on the map. each square gives you the friendly and enemy presence ratio based off the length of the bar in the area.

if you see a red bar in a grid that takes up the whole square and you see the green bar about a third of that and you see 2 green dots in it (friendly planes) you know that somewhere in that square there are 6 enemies and the nearby base is probably in for a small to medium attack. there are other things to consider but i wont get into that.

now if you see a red bar in a grid that takes up the whole square and a green bar that is miniscule compared to it, and you see 3 or 4 green dots in it... then you know shits about to hit the fan and there is a big buff run that is going to destroy a few of your bases.

and i leave the novel i just presented with the following comment.
because games last for about a week and the battlefield changes so much while you are gone, this game is really all about having fun. this is because the chances of winning or losing when the game is on your watch is very slim. so you just play... have fun... do your part to win the war but in the end we are all friends even the "enemy" team.

you see people saluting enemies for a good dogfight.
i have even seen and been a part of a memorial service airshow to show respects to a certain communities member who had died in a car crash and really loved the game. she was 15. she lived in england.

What is this a month to month subscription and can i dog fight. I just wanna be in a fighter dog fighting. I miss combat flight simulator and the dust is collecting on the joystick. I had it for flying in bf2, which was a really good investment haha.

I'm going to look into this one.

you can do whatever you want and that is the thing.

if you wanna drop bombs then you can go on ahead.

if you wanna fight in a spitfire 8 then you can do that too.

its whatever you want. there are hundreds of planes and even tanks and the list is endless.

however. this from what i have heard is way more realistic than combat flight simulator and there are forums filled with thousands of tips for beginners starting up. and for many different maneuvers that help you become a better fighter.

fighting is all about your energy related to the enemies. and if you can keep yours while depleting his then you are garunteed the win.

this is real physics you learn and seems like it is the shit they were teaching real pilots in ww2. (there is no way of me actually knowing if that statement is true but it very well could be. thats how based it is on physics it is.)

the beginner information is filled with charts of controls and tips and then the information is given to you in what seems like classes.

the information you learn is so much real physics that it is staggering that they put it in the game. and when i say you are in class learning all you need to get going. i mean! YOU ARE IN CLASS! there are many lessons that you can read and then there is even a training server. thats what i did during the first half of my 2 free weeks.

however as far as the price per week goes.... i have no clue.

i am willing to pay for it but i just havent had the time to subscribe but a friend of mine that looked it up said its about 15 bucks a month.... which puts it right there with wolrd of wardrugs price supposedly (he is a warcrack addict so i believe him).

remedyz. if you get a 2 week free trial i will pay for a subscription and play with you. and try to help you adjust to the ropes. i will give you the links to the places where i learned and got addicted and try to teach you the lessons i was taught. just dont do it in the next 2 weeeks cuz its finals for me.

well technically you can do it whenever... i just cant help you for a while due to finals comming up.

(EDIT) and in the first post where i said it takes 3 to four minutes to fly to the next closest base. its more like 5 or 6 on average cuz some take like 7 but some take like 4. bombers take even longer. when you download the game you get one trial map (as far as i know cuz i played on it for practice)... and you try to fly say a lancaster 3 to the next base and it can take like 15 minutes. the only planes that can make it in 4 minutes are the fast fighters and the german jet planes.

Shit this sounds epic. I'm not going to get into it quite yet. I got papers up the ass due now. This weekend I have to write a 10 page paper along with studying a few chapters of spanish. Damnit. Gotta pay attention to Calculus too as the semesters almost over. So I have one more test in there and a Final. Studying for the final is going to be hash.

I have 2 more papers to write for 2 different subjects of mythology. One one art... one on some other shit that i'm not even sure of.

May I'll play it because it sounds so good. I need to get my WWII dog fighting in. What are the min specs of the game? Because, It sounds like a game that's able to rape my computer. My mobo has AGP8x for its gfx slot... need an upgrade...

any controller works for aces high and even yokes.

aces high is just epic gameplay
----the grafix are lacking.

the backstory as to why i know about this game is as follows -

[i wanted a game that i could play on my shitty laptop during thanksgiving. i eventually found this beast and it was a lot of fun. when i got back to college, i put it on my desktop and used my joystick on it and loved it even moar.]

so trust me you have nothing to worry about as far as grafix are concerned because my laptop could do it and the specs are as follows:

2.2GHz turion 64 x2
geforce6150 go

yes i said 6150 go! That shit cant even play bf2 except on the lowest settings and at 12 frames a second.

as far as my joystick. i love it!

god damn!! thats a $100+ Stick niiiice.

Lets talk physics... Back in the day which was a Wednesday in '45.... if you dove most planes to hard, as you reached the speed of sound the shock waves would make it near impossible for the pilot have any control.

In aces high do we have that problem? kuz that would be the shit! Also are there Mustangs? omg i wanna fly that beast so much. Also tracer fire is a must.

Also i've been watching some old history channel stuff of dogfights, because they're the shit...

YouTube - DOGFIGHTS, P38 LIGHTNING VS ME 109

Apparently what i described is called Compressibility. Also want to fly a P38.
