better that way. i was an operation flashpoint gamer before buying battlefield 1942. ofp requires you to download gigabytes of addons from completely different and non-cooperative sites just to run a few maps, and believe me its a huge pain. i prefer big packs with everything that you need instead of downloading separate maps just to keep playing on a server.

because linking in certain places is not allowed (a few IRC channels in wich i am operator come to my mind..)

anyways, http://mfcti.sourceforge.net/ (click on instructions for a description)

it turns operation flashpoint (a tactical military sim) into a shooter/strategy hybrid, with people attacking towns and occupying them to get money, while a commander "builds" the base (since the original ofp didnt have any building animations, what happens is you place a destroyed building, and then workers that you hire literally "punch" it into full health). its kinda fun actually

Hmm, don't like normal flashpoint. I'll tell my friend about it because it sounds cool. (oh how I love mods)

You beat that one mission in OFP where the black ops guy had to sneak into the compound and steal some plans? That mission pissed me off so much... Where the t72's are on patrol, and if you sound alarm you get 2 Hinds coming for you...

Congrats man, i nearly put my fist threw the wall from that one.

you mean the one where the black ops guy has to steal the map with the location of the SCUD launcher? the third last USA mission? yeah, if you dont know how to do it its pretty frustrating ^^

if you know how to do it though, and you have a steady aim, you can win it pretty easy. all you have to do is crawl all the time till you get to the house. if you stay to the ground, i dunno if its for some weird game bug, but those russians wont see you, not even if your at their feet (well i never got THAT close but lets say 1 mt distance..). blind people anyway, you reach the house crawling, only to find an officer outside the only entrance, and he has NV goggles, and he can spot you..
so when you get close enough, you sprint inside the house (its enough to enter it to get the map) and then you just stay prone inside the house, wait for everyone to run towards you and then you shoot em all with your MP5 . anyways, after a while a BMP or a T72 comes (cant remember). 2 choices: use the satchel charges and blow it up (had loads of fun doing that) or just run away.
this mission aint really a problem once you know what your doing, and you act like your a black ops, in other words if you see someone you dont shoot him right away. its IMPERATIVE that you dont make ANY noise until you got the plans. else its impossible, with hinds, tanks and other nasty stuff looking for you.
the mission after that is downright impossible. with a squad of 8 men, and the support of 2 cobras and 3 M1A1s (wich are radiod in as support) you have to destroy the scud launcher, surrounded by some 6 shilkas and 5 T80s and various T72s and BMPs. its near impossible. you also have to deal with 30+ soldiers wandering around, some of them spetz natzes
in the end, i snuck in alone with my LAW launcher, saw the scud, blew it up, then ran like hell towards the exit point. BOOM mission finished in 5 minutes

Wow, that was completely different from what i did. I just snuck in until i got on a hill that overlooked the little complex that had the Hinds and Shilkas. Sniped all the people that were pilots and gunners first, then all the troops, and by the time the T72 showed up, i was in the Shilka and rocked him quick, then jumped in the Hind and blew up everything. But this took a LOT of save games.

Just out of curiosity, when you played the squad leader character, did you just play like a regular FPS with a bunch of cannon fodder? Cos i friend of mine said he really didn't shoot much, he spent his time using unit commands and said it made the game much easier... like having the units hold fire until the Russians were like 200 meters away and then have them mow down the troops before they could go prone.
