Language

Alright I know this is gonna be a bad idea ahead of time but I feel the need to post this just to get it out of my head.

I have a problem with this language rule on the server. I understand that this is because noone wants to hear "**** **** **** **** **** **** **** THIS **** THAT **** **** ****" Like seriously yes that is topping it and that is what would be worth of a ban before but if it's not just me, I swear to god I see someone say something as simple as "Shit" And BANNED. Like WTF? The motd clearly states "No racial slurs or CONSTANT obcenities." CONSTANT being the key word there. Anything racist should be an instant ban aswell, I do not aprove of racism at all which is a rule that should stay. Basically what I am trying to say here is go by the motd, if swearing becomes a huge problem warn people, continues, ban them. I was in the server, I was killed by an orc nade and I said "Ass crack" like I usually do. And I was warned by an admin saying language. Yes I relize this is a family oriented server and that rules must be changed to suit this but I am pretty sure every 12 year old has seen the word ass in his life time. BTW, I agree with some people this is a mature game and it is 17+. ESRB notice clearly states "Gaming experience may change during online play" which means M stnads for the general rating but they cannot stop the way people live and talk outside of that. I have a bad mouth myself. Sometimes words slip out just by forc of habbit. That should not be worth a ban. As I said before a ban should be only handed out if it becomes a huge problem.

Anyway thanks for readin and I hope I don't make too many enemies out of this.

Venture/Disturbed.

I haven't seen anyone receive a ban for saying one swear word. Using one racist word? Yep. One swear word? Nope.

Not swearing on a server isn't that hard. You simply don't type it in. Using things like #%&! or AGGHH! (my favorite) is fine and just as valid if you feel you HAVE to put it in text.

I feel the biggest reason admins jump on swearing so fast is because while you're one person, if everyone on the server says one swear, it can start to look like a sailor infested bar. So to make sure people curb their bad text habits early the admins let them know to relax, thus reminding others to as well.

Just remember, it doesn't have to be typed.

It's a bad habbit to swear in game. Typing "Oh **** that" for me is like second nature. It just happens. And if swearing becomes out of control for example everyone doing it admin can say "Ok that's enough" I just don't think going all hardass and banning people isn't a good way. This is my opinion on the fact though, I am more than willing to hear other peoples opinions. So please post.

I have started handing out days off to people who dont stop swearing.

I always give a 2nd and 3rd chance but its getting out of hand. expecially you regulars.

So I have asked horsepower to turn the language filter back on.

"Please dont cuss" is a simple request, and if I hear "it's an M rated game" one more time i'm gonna frickin snap.

my daughter is almost 2, and doesnt need to see F@#$ this and PUS#$
that plasterd all over the screen.
dont get me wrong, I work for the railroad and have a horrible mouth. but I dont bring it to my home and i wont bring it to anyone elses.

I will warn once or twice, thats it. after that they need a day off.

I don't understand the need to type in a curse after something happens. Just say it out loud at home and move on. By typing it, you're taking time out and putting forth effort to curse.

I understand where you are coming from venture i myself dont mind if they say it once or something. But the problem that i start seeing is that once someone swears after they die other people see it and do the samething after they die. So it becomes the domino effect. If i see just one swear i usually let it go but when people starting doing it more i will warn them to keep it down and not do it. A lot of times when i first enter the server with no admin on i see many people swearing as if it was the only word in the dictionary. For example i came on the other day and everyline that read read in console or in game contained a swear. Like i said i know where your coming from but lately its kinda getting out of hand.

There were a few things that happened from what I remember starting when we had Google ads on the site - we cut the swearing down for the younger crowd (that’s one of the main reasons why nsn was formed. and swede left...) and we cut the swearing on the forums.
It’s a rule. It’s something you follow. You were warned as most of us do. And as we changed from a community where swearing was commonplace, we also had more younger members come in - making the need to reinforce these rules a larger priority.
Another thing that caught my eye was:

The admin's do their job AS THEY SEE FIT this goes for all parts of ninjaserve - both in forums and server. If they feel something is disturbing game play, they can do what they feel is necessary to keep the server under control. And the rules are clear. You just said it. You usually swear! I cuss; I'm sure all of you have heard me when I am drunk. But - I disengage my mic and have a blast shouting at the screen..
Do I swear with little kids in the channel? No.
Do I swear in the game chat? Most definitely not...

Try reevaluating your reasons for swearing in public. There's no need other than to make a scene and bring more attention to yourself.

Not that I disagree with anything you said, but it is kind of funny, considering what your avatar here says

Ok before this turns into a flame fest, read our rules. If swearing on a server becomes an issue the admin will take action. End of discussion.
