Lightbulb Map "configs".

When I had a server running...there was a way with amxx to make it so that when you join a certain map, certain variables could be set. You had to make a special folder and the maps you wanted the variables to be set on had to make a txt file and put the commands you want run when the server loads that map. For example, on all "knife" maps that this server is running, could restrict everything weapon related except knives...so people cant exploit by added amx_restrict "wepcodes" into the config file. To counter this, in the server config you have the set the default variables the way you want them and if there is no "config" file for the map its on, goes with the default servers config.

Now the reason Im bringing this up is that could be very very useful because if we continue to get custom maps that arent made well or maybe on a certain map we want to allow awps for what ever reason...would come in handy. The issue currently is with the knife map we currently have. People spawn with guns and start shooting and people are constantly kicked and yelled and and so on. Also, dont even know if nades should not be allowed on the map either, cause only with gloves can you get them. I was told was up to current admin that is on to choose....but shouldnt it be set in rules and not just based on what an admin wants?

Only issue is not sure if it Event scripts "allows" this by default or requires another script to be added. It was defaultly built into amxx scripting back in the day and not sure if they have thought of it or not.

Who knows...might come down to where we need a script to allow us to do this. But I think it would be very very useful if we are going to continue to have maps that dont follow any rules (bomb or hostages). If bomb is to busy (and he always is) could request for the script to be made on the mattie forums.

I definitely like that idea. I didn't see any type of "configs" like that with Mani though. Maybe the new admin tool that is coming out soon will have something like this.

Mani has custom map configs. However, ES and python doesn't really care about it.

Certain things like weapon restrictions can usually be set through mani. However I don't know how well it will work. I really don't think knife maps are appropriate for our mod. A lot players do stuff like suicide explosion just to get cheap kills. It also allows for easy xp. Why not just set the XP up instead. Or disable the mod for the knife maps.

As far as weapon restrictions go, I thought we had covered that months ago. All maps were supposed to follow the same weapon restrictions. We had problems where certain admins would unrestict awps at their leisure. As such the rule was put in place.

Personally, I'm sick of arguing these points. You guys do what you want. I'm just not modifying the code to specially match it. You guys talk about wanting a knife/ninja race, then you insist on knifing maps... They don't go hand-in-hand. Everyone will just take the knifing race, or undead to blow you up. Now I love knifing, I just don't like knifing maps. There's 0 skill involved. It's just a bunch of gang-rapings. Same with aim maps, they're for practicing your aim. I wont dictate what you can or cannot do, and I wont purposely change the code to make it harder for you. I just think it's a bad idea.

Ok, well...could we then using those map configs, disable the war3 mod on "custom" maps...or maybe even turn on redrover when those maps load? Will that solve it? We can still play the maps but without the wc3 mod running. If red rover is going to be enabled on those maps..would recommend the map time be cut in half or even to 3 quarters of the time...which should be able to be done through the map configs aswell...because as was stated before, it gets boring pretty fast, and dont know if people would want to play a knife map with no gain in it at all.
