My clan has decided we want to buy a server. We have looked and one lad has said he'll sell us a computer with all the gadgets we need to run a server for $1100 US. He tells me i cant run it off my internet here(HIGH SPEED FROM BELL SYMPATICO) that it needs to be left in there datacenter and ill buy monthly my net connection for the server. Do you guys think this is worth it???

Depends on what speeds your home connection is running at really... If it's something like a 3Mbit Download/384K Upload, your're not going to be able to run much of a server.

Server's really need the upstream bandwidth to send the info to clients.

How many people are in your clan? Which game do you plan on running, what are the specs of the box was he going to build for you, and how much was he going to charge you to colocate the box he 'builds' you on a monthly basis (how much bandwidth is he allowing for also)

Lots of things need to be taken into consideration...

I dont really trust this guy. He says he's huge all over the place in NA but it took me 30 mins to find his website. I'm going to invest in a ts server. Just challenge clans.
