C.D. imaging?
Just wondering if anyone knows the pros/cons of making an image of my BF1942 so i dont have to put the cd in my cd drive everytime i wanna play.

uses up a little extra cpu time, and takes up about 700mb of hdd space
never have to swap out cd's for that game, cd stays safe

I used a trial of alcohol 120 to make mine. I set up 4 virtual drives and put an image of both BF1942 and BFV up, as well as two other games. As long as you make the image and mount them before the trial period is over you are good to go. Once the trial is over, if you unmount the image, you WILL NOT be able to remount it, but they will stay mounted and usable even after the trial period is up. I also put +restart 1 at the end of the exe shortcut, that makes bf1942 and bfv load up without having to go through the whole intro. Also, turn off the music, loads faster.

I just used a no-cd crack for my BF1942 and it works fine.

I use Daemon Tools which is free, but only creates 1 virtual drive. There's no expiry date so you don't have to worry about keeping the images mounted and you can use it again if you image other games. So if you don't mind swapping between images, I suggest Daemon Tools, but Alcohol 120 is good too.

daemon tools are good and I'm with stryker if you're just trying to save your cd and tired of swaping it in and out just dl a no cd crack they are like less than a meg and won't affect cpu usage :p

i have tried using one for bf1942 and it gave me this weird error and about an hour pb ban.
but hey if someone has one that works send it over my way

why of course drayu, I usually go to www.megagames.com to get most of my no cd cracks and for about a year used on for bf42 from there that never got me any crap from pb, but make sure you have a pop up blocker and some anit spam set up megagames has good cracks just a lot of crappy pops and so forth |
