Upgrading My Comp
Ok so with my poor performance playing bf2 and having an eager look at the wonderful games to come I've decided to put off my Big screen tv purchase to instead upgrade my computer, well basically rebuild my computer. The two things I know of that I want to replace for sure are my motherboard and processor. Now I'm a huge amd fan and plan and sticking to an ASUS mobo. I also want to stay with a mobo that has an agp slot because i just got a 6800 pro agp graphics card and don't feel much like shelling out another 300 on account of my mobo not supporting my card. Now if there's a decent asus mobo with both agp/pci I'd take it otherwise I think I'll be going with
this mobo
and either this processor

As far as the price on the processor I don't really care as long as its under 800 so I want any feedback or reccomendations on what I'm looking at. Also I'm pretty sure I'll need a new power supply, right now I have a 480w thermaltake. Like stryker I will also now be looking into sata hdd drives, as far as brands go I really like seagate because of their warranty policy and their reliability from what others tell me. Oh and of course new ram I was thinking 2gigs dual channel. So any critisicim of the items I have linked above or any reccomendations I would greatly appreciate.

That motherboard is sweet to say the very least. 10/100/1000 LAN!! That's wonderful.
Not to mention that processor will last you.
Excellent choices.

personal preference here: i HATE Via. i will never buy any board the has a Via chipset ever again. Via totally turned me off to AMD chips since AMD doesn't make their own chipsets. this has probably gotten better with nVidia's chipsets, but i still have that sour taste in my mouth.
this computer is my first Intel build and i have been extremely happy with it's performance and stability.

Yea I like bonez selections, I'm def going with that processor and I might as well scrap the agp and get a pci card anyway that way I don't have a limited mobo and such, ug the cost of gaming haha.

i don't think you'll have any problem getting rid of that 6800. someone on this board might want it.
btw, what kind of ram is in your old board?
EDIT: should have asked you before, what are the specs of your current system? you might be able to get away with just 1 or 2 component upgrades to get that computer running BF2 well.

I'm sure i could get away with just a new mobo/cpu to get the game running well but I have come to the conclusion that I wanna be set for a awhile, like when i first built my current comp it's been good to me till now, i just feel its time for a new machine basically.
current specs
asus a7n8x mobo
amd athlon 2500+
duel channel 512 kit
1 512mb pny ram chip
6800 geforce pro agp (got a spare ati9800 pro too)

Gonna have to say something here. If I were you, save 200 dollars or so and get a high priced AMD X2, like these:
AMD X2
With Intel you have HT which sort of lets you get away with multi thread programs. AMD doesn't have that, but those X2 more than surpass any Intel HT chip or Intel Dual Core and can easily beat the FX-55 in benchmarks as well as they will last you longer.
