I saw this on base the other day for about 170$.

I've been looking foward to upgrading my computer for a long time now, so I was half tempted to pick it up.
Is it a good card? And is the price reasonable?

from what i've seen, avoid all X series under X800, they have no more proformance then the 9 series cards.

well u can get a x800 on newegg.com for about that...or u could drop about $300 more and get the x1800

Might as well get the 7800GT for under 400. It is marginally better than the X1800. Well, shouldn't say it like that. In some games like Fear and Far Cry it almost beats the 7800GTX. In other games like Doom3 the X1800XL fails to out perform the 6800 Ultra. In others, like BF2, it can't out perform the 7800GT. It really depends what game you are playing.

Nzdbox: The 6600GT out performs the X700 Pro by a lot. In that price range the X800GT is your best bet.

Alright, I will probably be assembling a new PC by Christmas anyway.

I was mostly looking at a price of around 150$. Anything over 200$ is just too damn expensive. We have a lot of stuff to buy over here at home, and computers aren't on the priority list.

I'll post back in a few months then.

In the meantime, can someone give me a quick update on the new processors from AMD? I haven't followed them at all for about a year now.
