Help On Upgrading

so im upgrading some of my components. I do have a dell and know that peopl will give me sh*t for it but i have done my research and found this out. My mobo will support a SATA drive. My case is very small and can have one more drive. I was just curious in how i should go about installing that. My other upgrade is my new sound card. i only have 3 pci slots and pretty much 2 are taken up by my 6800 and there is a modem card in there. will it be a problem to take out the modem or not? i think thats pretty much it.
