I'm in the same boat as you Johhny. My GeForce4 Ti4100 128mb piece of poo just ain't cutting it. Especially with my most anticipated game, Gothic 3, coming out in Sept. I absolutely have to get an upgrade. So I will be watching this thread as closely as you. We might both be asking the same questions

I don't know from experience, but one of my teachers builds computers and is pretty hardcore and all he buys is BFG, lifetime warranty and quality product. (I had asked him for advice prior to purchasing my new card) So I would have to say go with the BFG.

jwadd, bad time to start upgrading, the 8800's are supposed to be rolling out soon, so that would be the best time to pick up a 7XXX or 6XXX series card.

well I ended up getting the BFG 7800GS OC withe 256mb ddr3 ram
not really seeing good frame rates though. I will have to do some adjusting.
could a GIG of ram be my bottleneck?

AGP 8x has never really been completely used(ever).
make sure it's running 8x, and also, did you delete and clean the old drivers ?
