Over Clocking

Ok, reading through computer forums I run across this quite often. I know what it is, but I just don't know how to do it. Could someone give me a rough idea as to what I need to do to over clock something? I just want to know how to do it.

Don't worry, I'm not going to do it. I doubt I even could do it. I just wanted to know what exactly people were doing when they said they over clocked their processor.
