buying a new video card

my wife is gonna spend the big bucks on me maybe 4 but $4 bills would be enought. im seeing EVGA 8800 GTX 768MB selling on ebay for that much. any1 know if i can get more bang for my buck then this card and if so do share i have about 3 weeks to get her the info for it help me

Ive said this many many times. Unless you have the fastest system money can buy, then this card will not be fully utilized. So post your specs and Ill suggest something better. If you know you are going to be upgrading your computer soon to a core 2 duo (or quad) then go ahead and buy it. Its full potential will not be unlocked until the 2 conditions are met:

1. You have a core 2 duo 3.2ghz and maybe around 2 gigs or more of ram.
2. You have 2 26" monitors.

Only then will this card really be working...otherwise from all the benchmarks ive been reading its just too much power that isnt being used. So more of a waste of money. I have a 8800 GTS 640MB and should of waited until the GTS 320 came out...would of been bought 2 sli'd and would of been more worth it and A LOT cheaper (aslong as you have power and motherboard requirements met that is).
