maybe im just dumb...
ok i bought a sound blaster x-fi extreme gamer card but when i install it and start my pc i get the dreaded blue screen... suggestions?

Make sure you've turned off the on-board sound in the BIOS.

happens to the best of us.
here's a tip i found on cable tv installation. the cable signal is much stronger, if after checking all your connections 5 times, you actually connect the cable to the back of the tv.  |

its really great... and my fps has actually increased!! and now i can play cod4 without restarting my pc everytime i load it!! used to lag like hell if i didnt restart the pc. alot of the newer games dont like onboard sound. battlefielld hated me and so did 2142 but now they all love me.

I completely disagree with that. I have onboard sound and when I tried to install my SoundBlaster Audigy... I thought the sound was crap. It was choppy during CGI vids and sometimes my sound cracked on high pitch clips. So I took that out and I'm sending it to Born.  My onboard has never given me any problems and I've played quite a few newer games with no probs.

play bf2 it dont like onboard sound and niether does cod4. get the x-fi extreme gamer card. it worx very well. you can get it for 60 bux at comp usa they are going out of business
