Ive never had a problem with norton. Not since 2008 edition atleast. I use norton internet security 2008. It loads after everything else starts up to prevent the lag issue in previous versions on startup. Alot of optimizations have been implemented and its alot faster in every sense than was in previous versions. Dont bash the latest edition of something if you havent tried it. If you dont have alot of ram or just have a crappy computer ofcourse its not going to run great...but you shouldnt be gamming with that crappy of a computer either.
If you are not behind a router...get a firewall aswell. You can catch things before they update and dl more crap by the program notifying you if the program wants to connect to the internet and can stop it dead in its tracks. Also great against hackers and what not.
I will not comment of newest version of mcafee cause never used it. But older versions I have tried and it didnt detect everything I through at it. According to some poll of some sort...bitdefender is the best antivirus out there. So, if you are looking for the best would go with bitdefender. I have tried it few years ago and it was great. It did detect more items than norton did. But trial expired and removed it cause didnt come with a good firewall and dont want 2 seperate programs running to block against both.
