High / low ping

In a game Horsepower mentioned that I had a low ping (±90). I live in the Netherlands (in the beautiful city of Leiden).
I understand that the ping affects the gameplay but how high can a ping be before you start to notice it. Can you tell the difference between 30 or 90. And how much does someone else's (high) ping effect my gameplay.
A friend of mine ('boris boef') told me he didn't play much on US servers because off the high ping. (He fly's Cobra's). Does high ping effect flying more than driving/walking?

I think the issue with high pings and flying is that you run the risk of lagging at which time the helicopter/plane will start to drop out of the air.

Also, if you're ping is higher than everyone elses, don't even think about using the sniper class.

what i said was, you have a good ping coming all the way from the Netherlands.

someone that has a ping of 30ms definately has an advantage over your ping of 90ms, but not much. we're talking fractions of a seconds here.
