Another from Se7eN

well the game crashes to desktop now in every game I play. Sometimes my PC will just restart itself when this happens, and when it does I get an error message that reads:

C:\windows\Minidump\mini081204-02.dmp
C:\Docume~1\jonathan\LOCALS~1\temp\WER1.tmp.dir001 sysdata.xml

all drivers are good, except for my SiS AGP driver, cant find it. No heat problems. Installation is all good.

If anyone has any ideas or knows what that error message means I would be greatly appreciated.

Thanx

uh, that could be the problem. i'm not familiar with SIS boards, so i couldn't tell you anything about it. more than likely, it's included with the mobo drivers.

list all of the hardware in the box.

did you loop Memtest overnight like i told you too? ANY errors indicates a hardware problem(RAM, mobo or cpu).

install/run Prime95. if you have an Intel chip that has hyperthreading, install/run 2 instances of Prime95. since hyperthreaded cpu's are recognized as 2 processors, set one instance of Prime95's processor affininty to processor1, the other instance of Prime to processor2. run both instances for a few minutes then check cpu temps. if ok, run BOTH instances of Prime overnight. you better be d a m n sure your temps are good. this is gonna heat your CPU a LOT. again, ANY errors indicates a hardware problem.

if you've had no errors up to this point, you've pretty much ruled out CPU, RAM and mobo as the problem IF you tested like i told you. how many watts is your PSU. have you checked it's voltages? is this all new hardware, or has it been used before with no problems?

no errors on Memtest and Prime? strip the box down, remove all cards except video. disable any onboard stuff you use in the BIOS(NIC, sound etc.). low level format the drive. reinstall your OS, then install software in this order: OS>3rd party disk controllers(if any. you will be prompted for them during OS reinstall)>mobo drivers>DirectX>all Windows updates>video driver>Battlefield1942. test the game heavily(lots of bots with high AI). no CTD problems? install your other cards/drivers ONE AT A TIME. test the game after each device install. use the latest drivers for ALL hardware.

one thing you might try is pull out one of the sticks of ram, and test it then and see what it does.

Thats not a 'problem' - Offset memory banks have been around since the stonages. Banks 1 + 3 or banks 2 + 4 or all of them. Motherboards do support logic swapping the banks at boot time (bios option) to protect them from stupid computer users (bonez)

Banks 1/2 SHOULD work, but will NOT be optimal perfromance - Perhaps you are familiar with dual channel memory - You can have 2 ram slots per channel (so your motherboard has 4 ram slots) Banks 1+3 = 1 channel, banks 2+4 = another channel.

unless there's a physical problem with that ATI card, there's nothing wrong with it. it's a good mid-priced card that will run BF1942 well. if i were to complain about any of your hardware, it would be that board with the SIS chipset, not the ATI card. but, it should work. you should hunt around for some forums that discuss that board and see if anyone else is having the same issue as you. here are some BIOS settings you can try if all else failshttp://www.ati.com/support/infobase/3968.html

Asus SIS agp driver http://www.asus.com.tw/support/downl...70.zip~zaqwedc personally, i would try using the latest agp and the other mobo chipset drivers for your board from SIS directly, not Asus. that Asus agp driver is a year old.

did u plug in the 4 pin 12v atx PSU connector into the mobo?

easy to use utilities for low level format should be on the disc that came with the harddrive. if not, dl it from WD's site.

again, did u test the PSU's voltages? the disc that came with the Asus board may have utilities for doing that.

try swapping the video card with a known good one. see if it still CTDs.

After I posted earlier today I went to my BIOS and disabled some things in there.

I played DC for about 30min. then i went back in and enabled my sound so I could have ears.
I was able 2 play for like 3 hours w/ no problem.

I exited out and about an hour later I went to go back in and my pc crashed and rebooted.
I then recieved an error code that read:

BCCode:10000050 BCP1:E4F33144 BCP2:00000000 BCP3:BFA3829B BCP4: 00000002 OSver: 5_1_2600 SP: 1_0 Product: 768_1

then i clicked the view button and it read:

C:\windows\Minidump\mini081204-02.dmp
C:\Docume~1\Jonathat\LOCALS~1\Temp\WER1.tmp.dir00\ sysdata.xml

What OS? XP? Read the log in event viewer. To open Event Viewer, click Start, click Control Panel, double-click Administrative Tools, and then double-click Event Viewer.

One time you said you did a complete reinstall??? Did you copy the files over the old files? or did you have the install disc format the drive you were going to use? I dont think Win XP will let you overwrite the files without formating but I'm not positive
