How To Handle Hackers

Quick Guide to Dealing With Hackers

How Do I Whisper to Admins During a Match?
Sometimes you don't want to let the hacker know you think he is hacking. If you yell out out "OMG HAX" he may just stop and deny you of the evidence you need to ban his cheating face.To type a message to only the admins, preface your text with the 'at' symbol

ex: @ Bombcode is hacking

Note you need the space after the @.

How can I record a demo / take a screenshot?
To record a demo in Counter-Strike, press your console key, this is usually above your TAB key and looks like ` once you have the console up, type "record <demo name>" (without quotes), this will start recording a demo. To stop recording, bring up the console again and type "stop". The demo will now be complete and is saved in your Steam\SteamApps\<em@il>\counter-strike\cstrike folder named <demo name>.dem.

To record a demo in Counter-Strike: Source, it is exactly the same as in Counter-Strike, except that after you have stopped recording, it is stored in your Steam\SteamApps\<em@il>\counter-strike source\cstrike folder.

To play back your demo, make sure it is in the correct folder (see above), and in your console, type: playdemo <demo name>. In Counter-Strike, you have the option of typing viewdemo <demo name> instead, this includes a toolbar where you can change speed, pause, and skip time. This function is not included with Counter-Strike: Source at this time.

To take a screenshot in Counter-Strike, you can bind a key to "screenshot", by default it is bound to your F5 key. If you want to take a screenshot of your console, the best way it to type "screenshot" (without quotes) in your console, both these commands save it as a bitmap (.bmp) file named <map name>xxxx.bmp in your Steam\SteamApps\<em@il>\counter-strike\cstrike folder, where xxxx is an auto-incremental value depending on how many screenshots you have taken of that particular map. In Counter-Strike: Source, you should bind a key to "jpeg" (without quotes), this will save it as a JPEG (.jpg) named <map name>xxxx.jpg in your Steam\SteamApps\<em@il>\counter-strike source\cstrike\screenshots folder.

How Do I Get Somone's SteamID So I Can Report Them?

In console type ‘status’ and hit enter, as this will bring up all the players ‘Steam IDs’; which are a unique identification code of each player, this allows them to be permanently banned from servers. To be on the safe side, please copy their Steam IDs down, without a Steam ID, a demo is useless.

A Steam ID should look like this: STEAM_0:1:19230.

Again you can type screenshot in console to record its contents.

I made this guide up from a few sources listed here:

Thanks for reading and helping us non-cheaters catch hackers.

Lightbulb

Its also very helpful to type status while recording so you can see who was on at that time to help backup the hacking claims if need be. It will show up during the demo in the console. Its best if you do it at the starting so dont have to go through it to find it.

Good Job. Def needs to be a sticky.
