Geek Squad 685VA UPS/Battery Back-Up System $19.99

Geek Squad 685VA UPS/Battery Back-Up System

6 total surge-protected outlets, 3 with added battery backup
Automatic voltage regulation (AVR) maintains steady flow of power
685VA rating; 825-joule surge energy rating

Bestbuy.com site purchase only so you have to have it shipped. Cost me $14.00 for shipping, so $34 total for a UPS that has AVR. You won't find a +/- 685va(350watt) UPS with AVR for that price. Bestbuy's nearly identical 700va Geeksquad UPS is $90.00 before shipping.

Yeah it's not a top of the line UPS, but if you need a cheap solution because your power blinks off and on a lot like it does here in Florida, this will do the trick. It handled the boot up of my new computer and a CRT 17" monitor with no problem. Battery runtime probably sucks, but if it'll do about a minute, that works for me. If you need a lot of runtime, get 1 for your tower and another for your monitor. That's nearly 1400va for $70. It has auto-shut down software and some other crap I never use.

If you need a system critical backup supply, get an APC Smart UPS. I have 2 of those. The time it takes to switch from AC power loss to battery is excellent and it puts out pure sine wave(good for home theater equipment).
