Deal is dead. Got my drive today. It's not a 300gb Maxtor for sure, it's 320gb Seagate 7200.10. Very quick shipping from Outpost. One of my better finds I must say.

How so? Seagate owns Maxtor.

just the fact that you ordered a 300gb maxtor and received a 320gb seagate? were they sealed in a box new? or was it a fry's open box thing where all you get is the harddrive and nothing else?

I never would have posted this deal if it were an open box. It came completely sealed in a retail (not OEM)Maxtor box, with Maxtor software, in Maxtor packaging. The label has big, bold Maxtor letters but in fine print has Manufactured by Seagate on the ame label. Newegg sells the OEM for $75. Looks like Outpost was just blowing them out. They do that occasionally for whatever reason.
