Know someone that is still on dial-up? For the next 2.5 years AT&T(Bellsouth) is required by the U.S. Congress to offer a 'lite' version(768down/128up) of their DSL service for $10 a month. You're not going to see this advertised anywhere as AT&T is actively making this deal hard to get by hiding information about it. You have to order this online but since I don't have a landline to verify service, I can only link you to a page that has the details. Good luck.

I heard about this on g4tv . If you have dial up and want an open phone line its the way to go...or if you have a grandma who doesnt need t1 rates or is paying a fork load for aohell...it's great, otherwise its junk for gamers. Just a fair warning.

the real value for this is for backup lines, if i were in my own place i would love to have one of these in case other internet went out...the beauty of dsl is it runs on the pstn, so if power goes out and you have a generator, you can plug in the modem and you still have internet
